Julie Weymouth, Care Home Manager at Ferndale Older People’s Home, said: “My #EveryDayHeroes are my amazing team who I work with every day. Despite staff shortages, the lift breaking down and working longer shifts, my team are doing a great job taking care of our residents. Everyone is having to pick up extra tasks outside their normal routine including delivering hot meals, providing clean laundry and keeping the home spotless. This is done with smiles and laughter and I couldn’t be prouder to work with such a great bunch of people.”

Ernie Thorne, a resident at Ferndale Older People’s Home, said: “The staff are doing a wonderful job, all my breakfasts, meals, dinners have been brought up to me on time. I haven’t missed out on having anything. They are working so hard and always smiling. They’ve even arranged for me to see my family from the window so I could wave to them. This meant so much to me.”

Dr Nicola Smith, GP Clinical Chair, for NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Groups said: “Working together across all areas and sectors has never been so important to ensure that we can continue to deliver the right care for people who live in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. While the NHS obviously has a huge role to play, it is important we recognise the dedication and hard work of hundreds of frontline workers who are all helping to keep everyone safe and well.

“I’m delighted Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Groups are supporting the #EveryDayHeroes campaign, so the public can show their appreciation for the excellent job that all of our workers are doing at this difficult time.”
