The Story Of The 920 Stolen Cherry Trees

Friday 30th November, 10.30 – 12.30. £5

Talks on Fridays continue on November 30th at the Luton Hoo Estate Walled Garden with the story of the 920 Cherry Trees Stolen from the Estate.  Peter Wilson’s talk will cover his ancestry in and around Harpenden.  It will focus on one particular family who, in the early 19th century made national headlines in the newspapers.   The story continues with more intrigue as one individual ends up transported, for a second time, for stealing tress from the Luton Hoo Estate.  These talks continue until the end of April on the last Friday of the month.  They will be held in the Estate Office Lecture Room from 1030-1230 for a £5 donation to “garden revival” funds. Money raised will help put a new roof on the third propagation house.

Entry is via the A1081, between Luton and Harpenden.   Take West Hyde Road/Newmill End turning and turn left into entrance gate, follow the signs to the Walled Garden.  Postcode LU1 4LF.  There is no entry to the walled garden from the Luton Hoo Hotel.
